The streets are safer thanks to public tips! On April 11th, at approximately 9:45pm, Rifle Police Officers arrested escaped bank robber Jewel W. Gist. Gist had escaped from the Rifle Correctional Center on Monday morning, on Tuesday evening Garfield County Dispatch received calls of possible sightings of the suspect moving south on Railroad Avenue. Rifle Police Officers made contact with Gist in the 1300 block of Railroad Ave. and were able to take him into custody without incident with the assistance of Garfield County Sheriff’s Deputies. Gist will be transferred back to the custody of the Colorado Department of Corrections.
