Public Meeting for Flaming Gorge National Recreation Area Management Plan

by | Dec 12, 2022 | News | 0 comments

In an effort to both address the increased visitors to the area and the changes in use that are throughout the landscape, Ashley National Forest will be holding public meetings. The meetings will discuss the current updating of the Flaming Gorge National Recreation Area Management Plan to bring it into alignment with Ashley National Forest’s new forest plans. The original plan was completed in 1986 and there have been many new forms of recreation that have started and matured since then. Some of these include All Terrain Vehicles, drone use, paddle boarding, biking (including e-biking), as well as bouldering and rock climbing. These activities bring new and different user groups to the forest and to Flaming Gorge. The new plan will be written in compliance with the 2012 Planning Rule and coordinated with the new forest plan. The first public meeting will be held at the Uintah Conference Center on Tuesday, December 13th from 5pm to 7pm. There will be another meeting at the Daggett County Facility on Wednesday, December 14th from 5pm to 7pm. The final meeting is at the White Mountain Library in Rock Springs Wyoming on Friday, December 15 from 3:30pm to 6pm.
