What was planned to start with state leaders gathering to show the public the importance of this year’s Census shifted to a need for Utahns to be self motivated in participating in the Census. The dominance of the coronavirus in the headlines might be overwhelming but should not stop Utahns from completing the Census. The Census is conducted every ten years by mandate of the United States Constitution and is a crucial tool used by demographers, historians, and is used to allocate federal funds. Governor Herbert recently released a declaration regarding the Census as yesterday was the first day of it. Everyone is encouraged to visit census2020.utah.gov to take part. Individuals can also help by spreading the word using the hashtag #CensusDone. It is important that EVERYONE be counted and any information gathered by the United States Census Bureau, by law, cannot be shared making it safe for all to participate. Help serve the state by ensuring an accurate count of all its individuals.
