Preservation work on the historic Wade and Curtis Cabin at Gates of Lodore on Dinosaur National Monument is moving along. The preservation project of the historic cabin is giving new life to the 100 year old facility and making it ADA compliant. The cabin was first constructed in 1923 in Colorado’s Zenobia Basin before being moved to its current location at the Gates of Lodore in 1933. Dinosaur National Monument Superintendent Paul Scolari says that the funding from the Great American Outdoors Act is helping preserve the heritage of the Northeast Utah and Northwest Colorado region and this is a great example of their efforts. The project includes repairs to the roof, walls, windows, and foundation, the addition of new flooring, electrical outlets, exhibit lighting, an accessible walkway, and an improved drainage system. This week the work was focused on exterior repairs. The front door to the cabin is now ABA compliant and installation of hardwood flooring inside has begun.
