Two months worth of activities celebrating the 150th anniversary of John Wesley Powell’s journey down the Green River culminated with the Powell River Fest that wrapped up on Saturday in Vernal. “The events were a success and so much fun,” shares Uintah County Travel and Tourism Director Lesha Coltharp. “It was a great celebration for John Wesley Powell. Nineteen descendants of John Wesley Powell traveled in from all over the country to attend!” While it would likely be moved to July, Coltharp believes it is possible the Powell River Fest will become an annual event. Thanks to all who made the events possible and all who attended.
