Registration is now open for a favorite Thanksgiving tradition and this year event organizers are offering plenty of reasons to get registered right away for the Gobbler Thanksgiving 5K. This year there will be awesome finisher medals and organizers hint this is the first and likely the last of its kind. Also, this year there will be the option of purchasing coveted merchandise like t-shirts and hoodies whether or not you register to race. The merchandise order deadline is November 5th. Of course the best reason is to help a local family and this year the Gobbler Thanksgiving 5K will benefit the Billings family. Amanda Billings was diagnosed with stage 2 invasive ductal carcinoma in 2017 and learned this year that it has advanced to stage 3 with 2 new tumors. Chemotherapy is part of life for Amanda, her husband Wes, and their 5 children and yet they still continually serve others in the community. Wes is a volunteer firefighter for Vernal City and in addition to their regular jobs, he and Amanda both work for Gold Cross Ambulance where they are first in line to help the community during emergencies. All are invited to Run, Walk, Bawk, or Squawk with the Gobbler Thanksgiving 5K, even those not in Vernal.
