The Western Park ice rink and amphitheater project was a topic during Monday’s Vernal City/Uintah County meeting. The designs for the ice rink upgrades are nearly complete and are expected to be the first construction that takes place. Features include upgrades to the front entrance and an addition to the back for locker rooms, storage, and bathrooms. Those plans are 90 percent done and will hopefully be out to bid soon. The Uintah County Commission gave final approval for the construction plans for the ice rink and amphitheater project during their December 27th meeting. Upgrades to the ice rink and amphitheater were in exploration and planning stages for much of 2022. The over $7 million dollars needed for the projects are coming from ARPA funds awarded to Uintah County, meaning no local tax dollars are involved.
