The Mill Creek Fire near Hayden, Colorado is slowly working toward containment. The fire was reportedly started on Saturday by an individual building a fire line with a bulldozer. The fire sparked and quickly spread and the bulldozer was destroyed. The fire is at 270 acres but threatens structures in the area. Over 150 fire personnel from nearly 20 agencies are assigned to the fire. “We must manage our resources efficiently and effectively,” stated Incident Commander Colt Mortenson. “There are other wildland fires burning in the northwest region and across the state. All fire management officers must coordinate and share the available resources we have.” Crews have also been busy on the Peekaboo Fire 50 miles west of Craig. The fire was started by lightning on Peekaboo Ridge and firefighters have focused on keeping it away from structures.
