So you’re preparing for a trip out of the country and need a passport. If you’re in Uintah County, your first step is to set up an appointment with the Clerk/Auditor’s Office. Go to www.uintah.utah.gov, click ‘Public Notices’ and then click ‘Do you need a passport?’ Uintah County has experienced an increase in those applying for passports and first requested the change to ‘by appointment only’ back in March. That request has extended the hours they are available for appointments to Monday through Friday from 8am to 4pm. Those applying for a passport can also help the process along by first visiting www.travel.state.gov and filling out the passport application electronically. It can then be printed out before coming to the appointment at the Clerk/Auditor’s Office. This website also has information on what documents to bring to the appointment and payment options.
