Daniel Mauchley, the director of the Duchesne County Library System, recently reported on the opening of the new Roosevelt Branch Library. The move upgraded services from a 4,300-square-foot building to a 16,700-square-foot library on one level that increased their collection space by 50 percent. Mauchley said that the design was influenced by Uintah County Library’s building, including a fake fireplace, study rooms, and meeting rooms. Duchesne County Library System and Uintah County Library work together to share items between the library collections. In 2022, Duchesne County shared 6,039 items with Uintah County  Library and Uintah County Library shared 1,640 items. The cost of the interlibrary loan would be $3.60 for one way postage per item but because they have their own transport system, $40,000 dollars are saved between libraries. Mauchley said that it’s helpful to be able to borrow items from other libraries when there is limited shelf space and it is convenient for patrons as they can return items to any of the three libraries.
