At least one individual is facing felony motor vehicle theft charges after two people stole a car from a gas station in Duchesne County and it was all caught on camera. According to the Affidavit of Probable Cause, employees of Big G gas station in Fruitland informed the vehicle owner of the theft and that they had security camera video of the car being taken. Law enforcement was contacted and using the video and photos taken of the security footage, Cody Dudleston and Kristy Hatton were quickly identified as the suspects. The video showed a white tow truck enter the parking lot and park at the gas pumps for over 30 minutes before Dudleston and Hatton exit the vehicle and go inside the store. After exiting they sat in the truck until eventually parking the tow truck next to a brown 1979 Ford Fairmont Sedan. They sat there for another 40 minutes until the parking lot was vacant of other vehicles and then backed up to the Sedan, secured it to the tow truck and exited the store parking lot. A search warrant was approved for Dudleston’s property where the stolen car was located with the front end spray painted black. Kristy Hatton was arrested on December 31st. It was not clear if Dudleston had also been arrested.
