Outlaw Trail Theater’s production for this year, opening on Monday, is a blend of the entertainment we’ve come to expect with a timely message. ‘South Pacific’ is a Rodgers & Hammerstein musical that premiered on Broadway in 1949, known for its message on racism. “South Pacific was the first show in which I served as a music director back in 2001,” shares production Director Brian Litton. “The experience is different this time because I’ve got 19 more years of experience, and almost double the cast we had last time…Preparing a show during a pandemic has been interesting, but that’s taken a back seat to the relevance of the message within the show. It’s made watching the news feel different,” continues Litton. “I’m constantly overwhelmed by the talent of the people in our show. I think [and] hope they’ll make audiences laugh and cry.” The production has a cast of 40 people and a crew of 20 people. The show runs select nights from June 22nd through July 3rd at the Outlaw Trail Amphitheater at Western Park. Tickets are available at OutlawTrailTheater.com or call 1-888-240-2080.
