Governor Gary Herbert made several announcements on Wednesday, one of which had to do with recreation. The recommendation that residents only visit state parks in their own county was upgraded to an Order. This means state parks will be enforcing this with the backing of health departments, explained the Governor. ID’s will be checked at state park entrances and those who are not a resident will be turned away. Thankfully, counties in northeastern Utah have plenty of outdoor experiences to choose from. Ashley National Forest issued a press release on Wednesday stating that while much of the forest remains inaccessible due to snow, there are recreation opportunities such as photography, hiking, dispersed camping, ATV riding, and bike riding still available. Ashley National Forest asks that visitors do their part to reduce the spread of the coronavirus and recreate responsibly. Do not visit the forest if you are sick. Follow CDC guidance on hygiene and social distancing. Take all trash with you when you leave. If possible, use the restroom before or after your visit to the forest. If an area is crowded, go to a less occupied area. For up to date information from Ashley National Forest, visit their Facebook page.
