Locals have rallied behind a worthy cause as the 2nd annual Operation Underground Railroad 5K approaches. The cause of modern day abolitionists is striving to raise at least $2,000 dollars in funds to help save at least one child from the sex trade industry. Registrations last year exceeded original goals for the event with 255 total registered for the race and 200 of those crossing the finish line in the event where every penny was pledged to Operation Underground Railroad in the fight against human trafficking around the world. The goal of Operation Underground Railroad is to rescue 2 million children from sex trafficking. In the last three years, Operation Underground Railroad rescued 670 victims and assisted in the arrests of more than 280 traffickers around the world. This year’s event is being held Friday, July 14th at the UBATC Vernal Campus. The 5K starts at 9:00pm. Will you be part of the rescue?
