An effort to get fugitive sex offenders out of Utah communities has made progress, including in the Uintah Basin. Attorney for Utah John Huber was joined by Matt Harris, US Marshal for Utah, to release the results of ‘Operation Reboot’ in a press conference on Tuesday. The operation found that around 20 percent of offenders were non-compliant but many of the violations were minor. 33 sex offenders are being considered for charges, largely for failing to properly register with the state. 8 fugitives were arrested after being found ‘Wanted’ for new sex crimes. The operation officially wrapped up on August 14th. Uintah County Sheriff’s Office and Vernal PD were among the 11 agencies involved in conducting the sex offender checks in their communities.
