A Maverick crude hauler driver is in critical condition as of last report after a rig fire that took place on Wednesday in the Womack oil field  in Duchesne County. According to Josh Phillips with Duchesne County Fire & Emergency Management, fire crews received a page at 7am for an oil field location involved in a fire approximately 4.3 miles east of the town of Myton. “Fire crews arrived on scene and found a Workover rig, a holding tank and oil tank battery with active fire,” shares Phillips. “A total of four fire engines and three fire tenders responded to the fire with a total of 18 firefighters. The fires were extinguished with no injuries to fire crews involved in the response. It was reported that a worker from that location was burned and transported to the nearest ER and was listed in critical condition. Fire crews turned the location back over to the oilfield company and the incident is currently under investigation.” On site reports have said that the driver was burned over 80 percent of his body.
