To anyone who was on or around Strawberry Reservoir between November 12th and 16th, the Wasatch County Sheriff’s Office is asking for your help. Anyone who may have picked up a gray colored life jacket is asked to call Wasatch County Dispatch. Several items were innocently picked up out of the water this week that could potentially change a missing person search in a significant way. Wasatch County Sheriff’s Office shares that on November 15th, the 911 center received a call from a father of a 26-year-old Salt Lake County woman. The father expected his daughter home on November 13th but he had not heard from her. His daughter had gone camping near Strawberry Reservoir with a 24-year-old man and her dog. “Through the night, Wasatch County deputies located her vehicle near the Reservoir,” shares the Sheriff’s Office. “A canoe she was reported to have taken was not near the vehicle. The Wasatch County Search and Rescue Team used a helicopter…to locate the canoe. The canoe was on a small island in the Reservoir. No one was in or near the canoe.” On Saturday, the Sheriff’s Office announced that the body of 24-year-old Benjamin S. Magalis from Minnesota was recovered from Strawberry Reservoir and it appeared he may have drowned while canoeing near Chicken Creek West. Search and Rescue crews have continued their search for 26-year-old Chenoa L. Plank. Ms. Plank’s dog, Hazel, was found and rescued with the help of family. Wasatch County Sheriff’s Office has asked that anyone with any information about seeing or finding a gray life jacket on Strawberry Reservoir call Dispatch immediately at
