Donald Ray Evans, age 88, of Mona, Utah, died peacefully April 17, 2022, in Nephi, Utah surrounded by his loving family.
He was born August 8, 1933, in Mt. Emmons, Utah to William Richard and Lola Crosby Evans.  He married his sweetheart, Jenean Burton, on September 16, 1953 in the Salt Lake Temple. They were married for 66 wonderful years and she died March 14, 2020.  They are the parents of 7 children, 35 grandchildren, and 71 great-grandchildren.
He served in the United States Army from 1954 to 1960.
Don and Jenean grew up in the Uintah Basin, raised their family in California, Utah, and Idaho.  They lived the last 14 years in Mona, Utah.
Don attended Brigham Young University before and after marriage.  He earned his Bachelor Degree in Elementary Education from Utah State University.  Later, he received his Master Degree in Special Education from Brigham Young University, and taught school for over 30 years.  He taught elementary, junior high, and special education.  He was a master teacher, and  was able to ignite a desire to learn in his students. He loved seeing the individual child grow in personal abilities and academic levels.  It was common for students to gain 2-4 grade levels in one year while in Don's class. He had many interests such as pottery, jewelry making, weaving yarn hats, and boondoggle that he shared with the students.
Don was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.  He served faithfully in many callings. He loved sharing his knowledge of the gospel.  Don and Jenean served a mission from October 2006 to April 2008 at the Liberty Jail, in Missouri.  They served in the Provo and Vernal Temples as ordinance workers, and he also served as an ordinance worker in the Payson Temple.
Don loved family, gardening, traveling, reading, writing, neighbors, sharing produce, and family history work.  He turned in hundreds of names of individuals to receive their temple ordinances.  He loved sharing what he had learned about those people with children, siblings, and extended family.
Don is survived by his siblings, Duane Evans, Cheryl Thornell, and by his children Dawna (Ross) Durfee, Kristine Evans, Carla (Merrell) Stoddard, Nyle Jacobsen (son-in-law), Rochell (Gordon) Madson, Roland (Nanette) Evans, Ray (Lesa) Evans.
