Rocky Mountain Power announced that the NOLS River Base has been awarded the Rocky Mountain Power Blue Sky grant. NOLS is a nonprofit global wilderness school that seeks to help you step forward boldly as a leader. The NOLS River Base is a campus that lies in the foothills of the Uinta Mountains and offers a river course that develops the boating skills needed to navigate whitewater rapids in a raft, kayak, or canoe. The $131,031 dollar grant will allow the completion of a 39-kilowatt solar array with a storage battery. NOLS also installed a Level 2 electric vehicle charging station with the funds. The solar array, battery and EV charger will help NOLS by saving on operating costs, focusing more resources on experiential education in the great outdoors and transition towards fleet electrification. Rocky Mountain Power Foundation has given nonprofits in Uintah County over $100,000 in corporate donations and grants since 2018.
