No Rapid COVID Tests Available At Health Department; If Sick, Please Stay Home

In case you haven’t heard, the supply of COVID tests is strained and TriCounty Health Department is no longer offering rapid testing, though PCR testing is still available with a 3 to 5 day result turnaround. Due to the prominence of the Omicron variant of COVID, TriCounty Health is offering a simple solution. If you feel sick, just stay home and if someone in your home is sick, stay home if at all possible. To get an idea of the prominence of COVID right now, last week there were 721 new COVID cases and this week, as of Tuesday, that has ballooned to 1229 Active COVID-19 cases. TriCounty Health Director Kirk Benge gave the heads up last week that Omicron was going to hit hard and it has but the good news is it is far less likely to result in serious illness or death.

Local case counts are at an all time high and that isn’t counting the many people who are not getting tested. Still, there’s no need to panic. Simply put, just stay home if sick.
