Thankfully there were no injuries in a tragic house fire on Saturday in Uintah County but the home and multiple vehicles were a total loss. According to Uintah County Fire Marshal Jeremy Raymond, Vernal Fire was paged at 1:33pm to a residential home on fire on 500 East near 2500 North. Raymond said the cause appears to be accidental, possibly from a smoker outside starting the side of the house on fire. He estimated the loss at $400,000 dollars for the structure, contents, vehicles and equipment lost. It was fortunate a neighbor drove by and saw the fire because the family was inside and unaware. The family got out of the home without injury but the fire tragically destroyed nearly everything. Ashley Elementary is helping gather items of clothing and shoes for the family and are also gathering donations through a chuck your change for the family. Those that wish to help the family financially can make a donation directly to the family through Venmo @Sadie-Perry-3.
