The new Vernal City Manager is settling into the position with ease thanks to his years of professional experience and the fact that Vernal already feels like home. Quinn Bennion officially assumed the position last week after making the move from Kansas where he worked as a City Manager for years. “I was interested in the Vernal City Manager position to live closer to family and to be a part of a community that I have a strong connection with,” shares Bennion. “Vernal is home for me.” Bennion grew up in Dry Fork Canyon and graduated from Uintah High School. He started his city management career in the Kansas City area after attending Utah State University and then University of Kansas. Bennion says he has received a warm welcome in his return to Vernal and notes that he considers retired city manager Ken Bassett a good friend and mentor. As far as his work as city manager, Bennion says the city staff is dedicated and knowledgeable about their roles. “My first goal is to acquaint myself with Mayor Norton and the City Council and understand their goals and priorities for Vernal,” shares Bennion. “Next priority is to network with community members and stakeholders. I am excited to be a part of the Vernal community again and do my part to build the community.”
