New Uintah School District Superintendent Sworn-In
Uintah School District officially has a new Superintendent. During Wednesday’s regularly scheduled board meeting, Dr. Rick Woodford was sworn-in as Superintendent by 8th District Court Judge Clark McClellan. After taking his oath and signing his contract, Woodford thanked the school board for trusting him with “a stewardship over the education of the children in [the] community.” Woodford has already met with many of the District’s directors. “I’m excited to meet the principals and the rest of the staff,” he said, “but I can see that there’s some remarkable work that’s already been done here over many years. I want the board to know that I will honor that work that’s been done. It’s very important to me that people know and recognize that my objective is not to come in here and change everything for the sake of change. It will be to evaluate and try to make things better for the kids.” Dr. Woodford has a Bachelor’s and Master’s in Special Education from USU and earned his Doctorate of Education from the University of Wyoming. He taught special education at Logan High School from 1993 to 2000 and then served as the special education director for Lincoln County School District 2 in Afton, Wyoming from 2000 to 2012. From 2012 to 2014 he worked as the principal of Star Valley High School before becoming the Superintendent for Big Horn County School District where he was employed when he accepted the position in Uintah School District. Woodford and his wife Jen are the parents of seven children, three of which are still at home and school aged. They also have two grandchildren.
