A festival to celebrate the homesteading spirit and turn-of-the-century frontier life in
Brown’s Park is happening this weekend and it will include the grand opening of a new
contact station for the historic venue. The John Jarvie Historic Ranch was settled in the
19th century and continues to transport visitors to the past with stories of outlaws and live
demonstrations of blacksmithing, rope making, and other frontier activities. This year’s
Jarvie Fest will be on Saturday, June 1st, from 10am to 2pm. The BLM Vernal Field
Office shares that the new contact station offers a year-round educational hub for visitors
and features exhibits on the area’s geological and cultural history. For more information
and driving directions, visit www.blm.gov and look up John Jarvie Historic Ranch.
