New Fire Start on BLM Land North of Vernal

A new fire start has been announced on BLM land north of Vernal. According to BLM representative Kelsey Birchell, the Bender Mountain Fire was started on September 2nd and is human caused. As of
Monday afternoon
the fire had spread to 2500 acres. By
Monday evening
, it was reported that the fire was still actively burning. It is a type 3 incident. There are 12 engines, 1 water tender, 2 dozers, 5 crews, and various aircraft on the scene working to contain the fire. It is located on the BLM-Green River District approximately 60 miles north of Vernal.
