A dinosaur unearthed in Dinosaur National Monument in the 1990’s has finally been named. The Allosaurus jimmadseni, a new species of meat-eating dinosaur, was introduced in an article in Peer J scientific journal on Friday. The article was co-authored by Dr. Daniel Chure, retired Dinosaur National Monument paleontologist of 38 years. “Allosaurus jimmadseni is the second species of Allosaurus found at Dinosaur National Monument,” shares National Park Service. “A year after the body was discovered, the skull was found thanks to equipment that detects radiation in the bone. Without that equipment, the skull might never have been found.” Another interesting fact is that only half of the specimen’s skull has been found so far but it shows both the outside shape and the internal structures, which is very rare. A replica of Allosaurus jimmadseni is on display at the Quarry Exhibit Hall.                                 Link: https://peerj.com/articles/7803/
