Heavy rainfall is expected this week in the Uintah Basin and beyond thanks to Tropical Storm Rosa in the east Pacific and National Weather Service has issued flash flood warnings for most of Utah. The time period for the heaviest rainfall is expected to be
Monday afternoon
and evening for southern Utah and Tuesday through early Wednesday for Central and Northern Utah. There is potential for flooding and debris flows originating from recent burn scars, including the Dollar Ridge Fire burn scar. There is also potential for ponding on roadways. National Weather Service also reports that areas most prone to flooding will be slot canyons, dry washes, and steep terrain, in addition to the burn scars. Heavy rain can be expected throughout northeastern Utah but only Duchesne County is included in the area at most risk of flooding.
