National Forest Service is making the rules for motorized use on forest system lands crystal clear. Snowmobilers and other motorized over-snow vehicles, snow cats and trucks outfitted with tracks, must adhere to the following regulations: Riding is allowed in designated areas only, found on Winter Recreation Travel Maps; Riding is prohibited in areas not open to snowmobiles, Wilderness Areas, and non motorized areas; Driving a wheeled vehicle on a groomed snowmobile route is prohibited; And finally, entering a closed area is illegal and violators may be prosecuted. If you observe someone riding in a closed area, contact the local Forest Service office. Motorized Vehicle Use Maps may be obtained at the local Forest Service office.
