As they look to the future, Naples City is exploring options to invite more diversity to the businesses on Highway 40. Naples City Manager Mike Davis explains that Naples City is exploring changes to the zoning along Highway 40 to add Commercial businesses. “We would want Commercial businesses along the Highway and Industrial more in the back,” explains Davis. “We cleaned up the code in the Industrial Zone and now we want to see what we can do to entice businesses to come to Naples and expand.” Davis gave several reasons this change would make sense. Essentially, having more retail would mean more sales tax revenue and inviting more commercial stores along the highway is a better look and more appealing than having only industrial businesses. Industry would not go away but just be more set back from the Highway. This idea is still in the early stages of being explored.
