Myton Man Found Guilty Of Assaulting Officers During January 6th Events

A U.S. District Judge issued a verdict on Monday for a Duchesne County man charged with actions during January 6th, 2021 at the U.S. Capitol. 30-year-old Odin Meacham of Myton was found guilty of assaulting law enforcement with a weapon and civil disorder, among other charges. According to a brief on Justice.gov, video footage shows Meacham on the west side of the Capitol building striking an officer on the upper body with a large wooden pole. About 5 minutes later, video shows Meacham picking up a black metal pole from the ground and throwing it at and hitting a police officer. Footage also shows Meacham attempting to take possession of an officer’s baton but was unsuccessful. Meacham was arrested on May 15th, 2023 and had entered not guilty pleas to the charges against him. Meacham will be sentenced in the fall.
