The Mustang Ridge Campground and boat ramp reopened for public use over the weekend after great progress had been made on the Sunny Cove Fire. Crews continued to monitor the fire through the weekend and caution was still urged even as the public was allowed to return. Firefighters completed the line around the fire on Thursday and it was estimated that day to be 80 percent contained. The fire was sparked by lightning about 3 miles northwest of Dutch John on July 17th and led to 160 people being evacuated and relocated to a church and community center located in Dutch John. Near containment of the fire led to recreation areas reopening around Flaming Gorge Reservoir Friday. Those that still have property to collect that had been left during the evacuation can call 801-226-3564 to arrange to pick up their camping gear.
