The DEA National Drug Take Back Day is this Saturday and there are several locations where unused prescriptions and qualifying items can be dropped off for safe disposal. Collection sites can be found in Ft. Duchesne in the recreation gym parking lot, in Roosevelt at the City Offices, in Duchesne at the Duchesne County Sheriff’s Office, and in Uintah County in the Walmart parking lot. There is also a drop box located in the Uintah County Public Safety Complex that can be used during business hours. The Drug Take Back events are about “making communities safer and healthier… by reducing overdoses and overdose deaths. While the community does its part to turn in unneeded medications and remove them from potential harm, we are doing our part to further reduce drug-related violence.” The Bureau of Indian Affairs and Uintah and Ouray Indian Health Services shared that Drug Take Back Days have removed 8,950 tons of medication from circulation nationwide since its inception. The special collection sites will be set up from 10am to 2pm on April 27th. Learn more at www.DEATakeBack.com.
