A mother and son in Uintah County are facing kidnapping charges after taking a 10-month-old baby from a residence against the protests of the biological and custodial mother. According to the Affidavit of Probable Cause, officers responded to a call of a woman reporting that her boyfriend, 29-year-old Kayden Ray Jensen, had taken her baby in a black Chevy truck and that he was not the biological father. Officers noted that the complainant was crying and hyperventilating, showing signs of severe stress. She told the officers that Kayden, along with his mother, had grabbed the baby after an argument between her and Kayden and they left. She said she even tried to get into the vehicle as the window was partially down but was unsuccessful. Kayden and his mother, 48-year-old Carley Yates, were found at a Naples residence with the baby. When interviewed, Kayden said he and his mother were trying to get the baby out of a bad situation caused by him and his girlfriend having a verbal argument. He said that his girlfriend had physically fought him as they took the baby outside into the truck and drove away. Kayden Ray Jensen and Carley Yates were both arrested and booked into Uintah County Jail. Jensen is charged with 1st Degree Felony Kidnapping, as well as Misdemeanor Domestic Violence and drug charges. Carley Yates is charged with 1st Degree Felony Kidnapping. Both are being held without bail.
