A Moon Lake Electric Executive has been highlighted by the National Rural Electric
Cooperative Association after an encounter while in Washington D.C. in which he saved
a stranger’s life. The NRECA shared on their website last week that one of Moon Lake
Electric’s board of directors, Ken Moon, was on his first trip to Washington, D.C. when
he came upon an emergency situation as a man had collapsed in the street. With nearly 4
decades of advanced EMT experience, Moon took action and took over for another man
who was attempting CPR. Moon shared with NRECA that the man “was completely blue,
no heartbeat, no breathing, nothing. I thought I didn’t have much of a chance,” said
Moon, “but I just did my best and it turned out right.” Moon’s wife Nancy is also an EMT
and she gathered details about the man and the situation from bystanders to share with
medical personnel upon arrival. When they left the scene, the man had a heartbeat and
was breathing on his own. The rest of their trip was spent with other Moon Lake
executives as they attended the NRECA Legislative Conference.
