Monsoonal Weather Increases Risk For Flash Flooding

Northeastern Utah has been included in the area at most risk for dangerous lighting and flash flooding with the monsoonal moisture pumping into the area from the south. Be prepared to take shelter from storms either driving or outside but note that while the entire region is included in the warning area, only some areas will see dangerous conditions. Early Wednesday morning, National Weather Service reported that drying began to work northeastward across the region overnight, but there remains more than sufficient moisture to generate scattered to numerous showers and thunderstorms across eastern Utah and western Colorado again today. “Moisture levels will remain sufficient to generate excessive rainfall from stronger cells which could lead to localized flooding…Some areas will see showers lingering until sunrise Thursday. Drying will continue through early next week so there will be fewer storms and these will be largely confined to the Continental Divide and the eastern Uinta Mountains.”
