Moffat County has issued a County Declaration of Local Disaster Emergency due to severe flooding conditions. The Declaration was issued on April 14th for the “imminent threat of widespread or severe damage, injury, or loss of life, resulting from flooding in numerous areas of Moffat County.” The Declaration also states that “Moffat County has had 148 percent of its normal snowfall this winter and recent high temperatures and additional precipitation have caused flooding.” There has been an issuance of 3 Flood Warnings by the National Weather Service in Grand Junction and the Yampa River was predicted to exceed its banks in western Moffat County over the weekend. Roads already affected by the flooding include CR30, CR78, CR18S, CR89, CR103, and CR4. To residents or anyone traveling through Moffat County, please be aware that conditions can change very quickly with increasing temperatures.
