The search for a missing Utah County man whose vehicle was last seen in the Uintah Basin has come to an end. According to the Uintah County Sheriff’s Office, search crews discovered the body of 44-year-old Blayne Parkin in a remote area of Uintah County on September 21st. Parkin had been reported missing from Spanish Fork since September 11th. “On September 14th, Uintah County Deputies were notified of a missing person out of Spanish Fork. Deputies were informed that it was believed his last location was an oilfield location in Uintah County,” shares the Sheriff’s Office. “Deputies searched that area that night and the following day where a camper shell believed to belong to Parkin was located at an oilfield location. With this information, Uintah County Search and Rescue teams were activated. With the assistance of Civil Air Patrol, Parkin’s vehicle was located on September 18th, approximately 40 to 45 miles away from the camper shell in a remote portion of Uintah County, approximately 5 miles west of the Colorado state line. Crews searched by ground and air beginning Wednesday night and all day Thursday. Canine teams started searching Friday and into Saturday where a deceased male individual, later identified as Blayne Parkin, was located approximately 1.25 miles from the location of his vehicle.” Investigators are still processing the scene but there does not appear to be any suspicious circumstances. Parkin has been transported to the Utah Medical Examiner’s Office to determine the cause of death. Evans Family Media adds our condolences to the family and friends mourning this tragic end to the search.
