It was a positive outcome for a missing kayaker that failed to meet his party at their rendezvous point on Saturday afternoon at Flaming Gorge’s Firehole Campground. According to the Sweetwater County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to the upper area of Flaming Gorge Reservoir on Saturday evening around 8:30pm. Crews searched until 2:00am and then resumed operations again at dawn on Sunday morning. From his view in a search helicopter, a deputy spotted the missing 57-year-old Nevada man in a green inflatable kayak on the water in the area of Little Firehole. The man was helped to shore and though cold and tired, was uninjured. He reported that after fighting poor weather conditions and high winds he had spent the night on shore and was then attempting to paddle back upstream to his vehicle.
