Halloween fun is coming up and the annual Mayor’s Walk is expecting a massive crowd as always. Vernal’s Main Street is closed to traffic each year and businesses set up booths and hand out candy. Vernal City Manager Quinn Bennion has encouraged all businesses, regardless of size, to consider setting up a booth and handing out candy. It is expected there will be 8,000 to 9,000 costumed attendees so Bennion says it is understandable if small businesses are unable to buy that much candy to hand out. Still he invites them to come and bring what candies they can and if a lot of small businesses do that it adds up and makes a difference. This year’s Mayor’s Walk is taking place Saturday, October 28th, from 3 to 5pm. Downtown Vernal Main Street will be shut down at 2:30pm. Organizers are hoping to have 100 booths so it spreads the crowd out through the space.
