Community members were disturbed over the weekend after a body was found on a sidewalk in Vernal early Saturday morning. According to Vernal City Assistant Police Chief Keith Campbell, investigators are still trying to figure out cause and manner of death. The deceased was a 34-year-old male found outside his parents home. The body was found by a passerby outside a unit within Split Mountain Village near 650 South 410 East. Residents in the area were relieved to learn the body was found by an adult. “It is very concerning that a body was found in my neighborhood,” shares one Split Mountain resident. “I am very grateful it was found by an adult and not a child. To have a body out on the sidewalk with so many children around is disturbing.” Police are waiting for results from the Office of the Medical Examiner regarding cause and manner of death, shares Assistant Chief Campbell. If toxicology is necessary it could take quite a while.
