The man behind bars for allegedly raping a minor in a hotel in Vernal last July will be in 8th District Court during the first week of June. According to court documents, 31-year-old Michael J. Grant is alleged to have forcibly raped the minor in his hotel room last July. Grant was arrested and booked into Uintah County Jail and is charged with 1st Degree Felony Object Rape, multiple counts of 1st Degree Felony Forcible Sodomy, and 2 counts of 1st Degree Felony Aggravated Kidnapping. The Affidavit of Probable Cause states that the 14-year-old victim was walking down the hall when Grant grabbed him by the wrist and pulled the victim into Grant’s room. Once inside the room Grant assaulted the victim. After police arrived, Grant was booked into Uintah County Jail and remains in their custody. He is scheduled for a Preliminary Hearing in 8th District Court in Vernal on June 6th.
