A Duchesne County man was arrested on Sunday in Roosevelt after allegedly narrowly missing a police patrol vehicle while under the influence of drugs. According to the Affidavit of Probable Cause, an officer was parked in Roosevelt at 300 East Lagoon Street watching the stop sign on July 16th just before 9pm. The officer initiated the police vehicle lights after observing a silver passenger car that failed to stop at the stop sign and started swerving on the roadway. Another Roosevelt police officer approached in a patrol vehicle with lights initiated and the silver car swerved towards the patrol vehicle before swerving away, narrowly missing the occupied patrol vehicle before crashing into a gravel area and a tree. Officers arrested the driver, 31-year-old Zachary James Workman, who was observed with conditions consistent with drug use. Workman was placed under arrest for fleeing from officers, aggravated assault on an officer with a vehicle, DUI, driving on a denied license, and for the stop sign violation. It was also noted in the report that Workman is wanted for a Board of Pardons Warrant for Robbery. He was booked into the Duchesne County Jail.
