The man who had been behind the wheel and fled from a high speed crash in Vernal has been arrested. According to the Affidavit of Probable Cause, officers responded to the area of Vernal Avenue and Main Street on February 19th after a vehicle hit a traffic light pole at high speed and the driver fled the scene. The vehicle had extensive damage and multiple airbags deployed. A passenger remained on scene and eventually shared the driver’s identity as Jeriah Kolong who had been driving recklessly at speeds around 80 miles per hour in a 30 mile per hour zone. On February 20th, 19-year-old Jeriah Kolong came into Vernal City Police Department to see if there was a warrant for his arrest. He admitted to being the driver who left the scene. He was arrested for the offenses of Reckless Driving and Failure to Remain at an Accident Involving Injury.
