A man was arrested in Duchesne County over the weekend after allegedly stabbing a man multiple times. According to the Affidavit of Probable Cause, the stabbing victim called dispatch on August 16th at 5:17am and stated that he had been attacked without warning inside his trailer around 9pm on August 15th. He said he had been stabbed multiple times in the neck, back, and hands with an improvised knife before passing out. He explained that he had woken up before making the call and the man was still outside the trailer going through his property. Officers arrived and Casey Malin attempted to flee the area in a white pickup truck but officers ordered him to the ground and detained him. Malin had a pocket knife and a filed down piece of metal on his person which was identified as the weapon used in the stabbing. A pistol was found in the driver’s side door of the pickup and both the gun and pickup were found to be stolen. 34-year-old Casey Lynn Malin was booked into the Duchesne County Jail for Violation of Probation and the Felony offenses of Attempted Murder, Theft of a Firearm, Theft of a Vehicle, Burglary of a Dwelling, and Possession of a Firearm by a Restricted Person.
