Mail Fraud, Counterfeit Bills, Fentanyl, Oh My!

A traffic stop east of Duchesne City on Highway 40 ended in arrest and a long list of felony charges. On February 18th, the officer conducting the stop recognized the driver as Tyson Grant who was currently a suspect in a case of using counterfeit $50 dollar bills throughout the Uintah Basin. The officer also noted that he appeared to be under the influence of drugs. During the course of the stop, an inventory of the vehicle was conducted and located a white glass pipe with methamphetamine, a candy container with hypodermic syringe needles and a baggy of white crystal substance, 17 blue Fentanyl pills, a glass bong pipe, empty baggies, a scale, forged/counterfeit $50 dollar bills, checks that did not belong to Grant but that were written out to him in excess of $1800 dollars, another person’s birth certificate, social security card, and driver’s license, a laminated card with the person’s identity, other people’s mail from throughout the Uintah Basin, more forged bills, 2 full checkbooks of another victim, and a stolen financial transaction card. 44-year-old Tyson D. Grant was booked into Duchesne County Jail and is charged with 2nd Degree Felony Producing False Identification, multiple counts of 3rd Degree Felony Mail Theft, Unlawfully Possessing Identification Of Other Individuals, Unlawful Possession of Financial Card, Identity Fraud, as well as drug charges and traffic offenses. Grant is being held without bail.
