A lost wallet in the wrong hands can result in a lot of damage to the victim. Thankfully, police in Uintah County were able to arrest an individual who recently chose to make purchases rather than return a lost wallet. On April 24th, a victim reported losing a wallet while on a run along 1500 South the day before and that in the time since, there were unauthorized charges on her financial cards. Video footage was obtained from the Sage Smoke Shop where purchases had been made and police identified 38-year-old Shaylee Hall and another individual using the card to purchase cigarettes and items. When investigators caught up to her, Hall said the card was given to her by her ex who owed her money and that the other items were for an elderly friend. While Hall claimed they had permission from the owner to use the card, the victim confirmed that she did not know Hall’s ex or anyone involved. Hall was booked into Uintah County Jail on Unlawful Acquisition of a Financial Card, Identity Fraud, Unlawful Use of a Financial Card, and Obstruction of Justice, along with 5 active warrants.
