The Office of the Lieutenant Governor in partnership with the Utah Commission on Service and Volunteerism announced last month their latest list of volunteers for 2019 and locals are among those honored. Rick and Mandy Slaugh were nominated by Daggett County. Landry George was nominated by Uintah Basin Healthcare. Joslin Batty, Alisha Gowen, and Brenda Halbert were nominated by Friends Against Family Violence and Laura Winkler was nominated by Uintah Basin Back Country Horsemen. Having seven people awarded from northeastern Utah is a jump from 2018 when there was one volunteer recognized, Calli Kettle of Duchesne County.
