An event held at the Vernal Cinemas on Friday explored the question of WHO has the authority to deem WHO IS and WHO IS NOT ESSENTIAL? When the stay at home order happened last spring, businesses were required to shut their doors causing a financial crisis for many business owners and their families. Eric Moutsos, founder of Utah Business Revival and creator of the documentary “Non Essential”, came to Vernal on February 5th for a free showing of the documentary and a question and answer session with the Vernal community. Event organizer Desiree Allridge says the event was a success. “I’d like to think many citizens left with a feeling of hope, unity, and connection with other community members,” shares Desiree. “Too many have felt alone not knowing how to make a change that can have a positive impact on society.” Vernal Cinemas will also show Non Essential February 12th and 13th for those unable to see it last weekend. “It was so emotional to relive the past year through this documentary…Beautifully put together and I can not wait to get the link out to my friends in other states,” shares attendee Ricci Sorenson. The Utah Business Revival has and continues to raise money to support struggling small businesses and an upcoming concert is planned for the Uintah Basin. Look for the Vernal Business Revival page on Facebook and join it. They will be supporting local small business owner’s throughout the Basin this year.
