A local church congregation continues to find ways to support the cause of ending human trafficking with a variety of fundraisers year after year focused on the effort. A popular one is happening this weekend in Vernal with the annual yard sale fundraiser to benefit Rapha International. As a member of the Vernal Christian Church congregation, Sharon Wilkins got involved in supporting the work of Rapha in 2012 when she was part of a team that visited the Rapha operations overseas. “It was a trip that changed my life and the lives of our team members,” shares Wilkins. “We became acutely aware of the devastation of child trafficking. We saw first hand the tremendous work Rapha was doing, how well run the organization is, and the impact they were making in the lives of so many young girls. They had our hearts. I had been doing charity yard sales for several years and in 2017 decided to direct the funds to Rapha. This year is the 8th year to have this yard sale for Rapha. I believe in the cause and I believe in the organization. It’s about more than just the money though. The money is important, but it’s also about awareness, and the opportunity to share the work of Rapha with others.” The yard sale is at 670 West 1100 South on Robinwood Lane from 8 to 4 on Friday and 8 to 2 on Saturday. All proceeds go to Rapha International in the fight against human trafficking and sexual exploitation of children. To learn more about the cause, visit www.rapha.org.
