The Uintah Basin has incredible youth and several of the standouts were recognized at the 2025 Northeast Region Sterling Scholar awards ceremony held on March 10th at Utah Valley University. The Northeast Region includes 14 high schools competing in 15 categories. Union’s Sunny Davis is the Winner in Agriculture Science. Duchesne’s Breann Ivie is the Runner Up in Business and Marketing. Union’s Cooper Winn is the Runner Up in Vocal Performance. Uintah High’s Tommy Cruz IV is the Runner Up in Computer Technology. Uintah’s Stockton Jolley is the Winner in Science. Uintah’s Teran Nash is the Winner and Union’s Mattie Richens is the Runner Up in Skilled and Technical Science. Uintah’s Ethan Pierce and Tabiona’s Verdis Winder are each named Runner Up in Speech, Theatre, and Debate. Uintah’s Lily Carlson is the Winner in Visual Arts. Altamont’s Reaygan Miles and Union’s Sara Baird are each named Runner Up in Family and Consumer Science and Union’s Kaylynn Trinnaman is the Winner in the Dance category.
